About Us

Total Coatings specialises in a high quality of work, and leads the rest in exceptional staining of solid timbers and veneers, high gloss and metallics.

Total Coatings are a specialist spray painting company who deliver quality finishes to a wide range of sectors across New Zealand. Owned and Directed by Craig Jones, Total Coatings is leading the way in delivering volume work to a wide range of sectors – while guaranteeing a consistent and exceptionally high quality finish.

Craig Jones has been in the coatings industry for over 20 years, starting with a Kiwi apprenticeship before heading to the UK. After five years of UK living, working and travelling – and developing his extended skill base, Craig returned to New Zealand with a personal aspiration to ‘do things better’ than the rest.

In 2007 Total Coatings was born. After just four months Craig had more work than he could manage, so his first staff member was employed. Craig now leads a team of ten, each with specialist skill sets that add to the extensive service offering Total Coatings deliver. High Volume – No Problem

Total Coatings are unique in the market for their capacity for high volume output. This is thanks to their 17000 square foot factory with five spray booths and the Leif & Lorentz B3 Spray Machine which was imported from Denmark. The Leif & Lorentz Spray machine has been stringently tested in Europe, and is the only one of its kind in New Zealand. For clients, this means a fast turnaround, and a very consistent finish on orders of all finishes and quantities.

Quality Paint = A Quality Finish

Total Coatings use only high quality paints and products because of their reliability and ability to be applied to a wide range of surfaces. Total Coatings favour certain manufacturers, known for their superior products that are guaranteed to last. Many of these manufacturers produce paints for specific industries. They test the products continuously, and are constantly improving the product range, the result being that they display superior performance in certain environments.

These paints are guaranteed to last and to maintain their ‘as new’ finish long after they’ve been applied. This is of course vital for surfaces on kitchens, entertainment units, commercial and retail furniture, tables, doors and super yacht interiors.

New technology that is going to become more and more mainstream in New Zealand is 2K water based coatings in stains, clears and pigmented finishes, these types of finishes are already in use in various parts of the world like Europe and will offer far greater environmental advantages. Total Coatings work alongside leading international coatings manufacturers who are currently working with this latest technology. They are in the process of testing these new products on New Zealand products in the New Zealand environment.

One Stop Shop

Researching new products and investing in new technology are vital for any company looking to stay ahead of its game – and Total Coatings is leading the way. Recognising a gap in New Zealand to deliver a high volume spray painting service, the company have invested in a new factory which houses their Viking spray booths, the Leif & Lorentz spray machine, and their SlipCon sanding machine, thus tripling their output. Total Coatings also offers out of the box solutions, coating items of unusual shapes and sizes, with coatings of a different feel and texture. The finishing options are endless, making Total Coatings literally a one stop shop.
